Day 58: a rest day in Las Vegas

Hello readers (including Ann Maroulis who apparently reads it out loud to John.) thanks Ann.

Today was a well needed rest day. I went for a walk around 7.30am down the strip but really it was too hot. Here is a profound observation though:

In Las Vegas they water their artificial grass. How's that?

This is such a strange city. Some of you would hate it. Some of you would love it. I have mixed feelings but am glad i have had the experience. It is loud, brash, crass and irreverent. Where else would you take the nation's most iconic symbol and make a replica to advertise? (what, I'm not too sure.)

Here are some random shots of our hotel.

Imagine engineering the lift!

Quite extraordinary.

I liked this one.

And this is one of the casinos. It's all non-stop and hardly anyone looks happy. (except maybe at the craps/two-up table but that's probably the Australian influence.)

We went out to a show in the evening. It was the Australian Tribute Show to the the Bee Gees. It was ok because I have been to lots of year 7&8 discos through the 80s and knew some of the words but i thought they were just going through the motions a bit. A bit like a plumber. I started a joke. It started the whole world laughing.

And that is our day. Up early tomorrow because we are riding through Death Valley. Woo hoo!

Today's run: 0Kms
